Registered Nurse position available in a medical surgical setting
with a focus on float to emergency department overflow. The nurse
will provide patient care in a team nursing environment with
assigned patient ratios. Team ratios consist of LPNs, RNs, Nurse
Techs, and a Resource Nurse. First-time travelers are not accepted
unless the candidate has 3 years of recent experience in the
specialty. On-call responsibilities may be required as needed.
Weekend availability may also be required as needed. Candidates
must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
for the position. All requested time off must be included at the
time of submission. Prior experience in trauma care, specifically
Level I, is required. Candidates should have experience with a
patient population including surgical oncology patients as well as
medical-surgical overflow. Daily patient census on the unit is
approximately 30-35 with a maximum of 45 beds available. Nurses
will be responsible for administering care that may include the
management of central lines and performing wound care. The unit
also utilizes PCA pumps and administers chemotherapy for qualified
nurses. Interdisciplinary support is available through various
specialties, including physical therapy and social services.
Patients range in age from adults to geriatrics. Travelers must
demonstrate compliance with all qualifications outlined in the
position description prior to submission. Experience with
electronic health record systems is preferred. Flexibility during
holiday assignments is expected, with a willingness to work during
