Technologist-Safety Sensitive Department: Nuclear Medicine
Reporting Relationships: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is under
the direct supervision of the Radiology Clinical Lead. Job Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all
diagnostic procedures within the Nuclear Medicine department in an
efficient manner according to protocol and the physician’s order.
The technologist works effectively with patients and physicians and
maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental
personnel. Job Duties: Complete studies in a timely and efficient
manner utilizing downtime to assist others where needed. Assures
exam charges and 5 day late list are checked daily for the Nuclear
Medicine department. Organizes workload during high volume to
expedite patient care and communicates to other technologists all
pending exams and any pertinent information. Assists the physician
in performing radiology procedures. Handles equipment in a safe and
appropriate manner within guidelines and policies of WRMC and the
imaging department. Maintains clean work area and follows equipment
cleaning policies. Assures exterior surfaces of the machines are
wiped down after each workday and between patients as appropriate.
Willingly assist with procedures in any area of radiology when
needed. Check with co-workers during downtime for need of
assistance. Promotes positive relationships at the department
level, discusses concerns with the supervisor and presents the
department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.
Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new
methods of supply utilization. Follow the “on call” policy by
responding to call back within acceptable time-frame and arriving
in the department within 30 minutes after being called in. Follows
attendance and tardy policies Follows WRMC dress code and
appearance policy. Participates in required hospital and department
in-services and meetings. Follows safety and infection control
policies. Demonstrates a working knowledge of Arkansas Department
of Health requirements and maintains an accurate and up to date
policy and procedure manual, ACR requirements, department
in-service records, safety and infection control standards, and
quality improvement reports. Performs other duties as assigned by
supervision. Qualifications: Education : High school graduate or
equivalent. Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear
Medicine. Must have BLS upon hire or 30 days post hire. Training
and Experience : CNMT registered and licensed in the State of
Arkansas. Job Knowledge : Experience with Arkansas Department of
Health requirements and a clear understanding of hospital
operations is required. Essentials: Must be able to report to work
fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs,
medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol. Must be
able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with
other individuals. Prepares for diagnostic testing by verification
of physician order, verification of patient identity, communication
with nursing unit when necessary for order clarification and/or
patient transport needs. Thoroughly explains the procedure to the
patient and/or family and answers questions regarding the test to
alleviate anxiety and prepare patient for test. Obtains the highest
quality studies possible following department protocol for
physician interpretation. Maintains current BLS, CNMT, and State of
Arkansas credentialing licensure status. Physical Demands : Job
responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work.
The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving
patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and
lifting or pushing of up to 300 pounds. Workday requires frequent
walking, stooping, bending, and moderate degrees of stooping and
repetitive hand and wrist movement. Work requires dexterity,
hand/eye coordination, and physical ability to push and operate
medical equipment. The individual must also be able to maneuver
throughout the halls, stairways, and exam rooms in response to
facility emergencies
